the agence france-presse reports that natalie cole will make her first visit to cuba, in november, in preparation of a december trip to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the hotel nacional. the trip holds special signifigance for cole, whose father was turned away from the hotel, in 1951, because of his race. this time around, however, the hotel will be hosting a cole in the presidential suite, as her talent and renown would dictate.

the rock & roll hall of fame has announced its 2000 list of artists now eligible for consideration for nomination to join the ranks of artists such as bonnie raitt, aretha franklin, the supremes, tina turner, etta james and dinah washington. to be eligible for nomination for the rock & roll hall of fame, one must have had their first album released at least twenty-five years ago. in cole's case, it is 1975's inseperable that has made her a candidate for consideration.
