the new york post reports that the divine miss m will reunite with old pal and former collaborator, barry manilow, for a release due this fall. the album, which is a tribute to the late ms. rosemary clooney, contains two duets with manilow and another with an as-yet unnamed fellow diva. the album will be supported by a national tour, following the filming of the paramount picture production of the stepford wives, co-starring glen close.

it has been reported that kevin dunn, bette midler's small-screen husband, will be leaving bette after only ten episodes. though rumors persist that the departure is the result of animosity between the actor and the show's centerpiece, bette spokespeople have explained the decision to have been mutual between dunn and the show's producers. dunn is the second cast member to leave the show—the first being young actress lindsay lohan, who was hired to portray bette's daughter, when it was believed the show would be filmed in new york, and who was replaced by the equally-talented marina malota—which has enjoyed excellent reviews since its debut.
